Strings for Kindness Performances & Events

Strings for Kindness…our story.

Strings for Kindness (SFK) is a ground-up movement of the Singapore Kindness Movement and National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre. It is an ensemble of     young string players who love to bring kindness to people, through music.

SFK was originally created to foster empathy and graciousness amongst the young ones during rehearsals. Such that, when the string players begin to perform in public, the kind-heartedness that they have experienced, can be passed forward during public performances, not only to their friends, but to the community as well. The young ones begin to Give Through Music.

With the COVID19 pandemic, our plans may have been slightly stalled, but we continue to do whatever we can, as the world needs more kindness than ever before.

Below is a storyline of what SFK has done to bring kindness to the community since we began in May 2017.

SFK has appeared in the Channel NewsAsia, Channel 8 programmes & at the VerveArts Festival, to illustrate what we do for the community.

SFK has performed at various venues like the Victoria Concert Hall, Capitol Theatre, National Museum of Singapore, Ngee Ann City, Singapore Recreation Club, Marina Square, Our Tampines Hub, Singapore Sports Hub, Sentosa, YMCA, Toa Payoh SAFRA, and at a number of community centres – where the young ones demonstrated kindness, for the community to pass forward kindness to others.

We’ve also performed for our Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Heng Swee Keat at the SG100 Foundation Gala Dinner. That was a real treat for the string players!

SFK has also performed at a number of live events. Some of the events include Light to Night Festival 2022, PAssion Arts Festival, RoadSense Carnival, YMCA Flag Day, National Kindness Award Ceremony, Singapore Kindness Carnival, Kindness Day SG, “Kampung Spirit”, “Grandparents’ Day”, Tayo Irvine Hendrix (daughter of Jimi Hendrix) Children’s Book Launch, Christmas Celebration & Party, SG100 Foundation Gala Dinner, Venetian Party and UCares Anniversary.

Virtually, we have performed for SKM’s “Overcome As One” event at the Our Tampines Hub to encourage even more people to show care and appreciate our frontlines and others in 2020. We have also performed at the inaugural Youth Music Day conference, National University of Singapore Giving new award-winning logo launch.
